Curls and Croptops |
This weekend was the busiest weekend I've had in many moons. I did have lots of fun but today my battery is running extremely low (introvert here). Let me tell you about it.
Friday night I went over to Rosalynn's house to hang out with her and the kiddos, including their exchange student, Maria, who just arrived 3 weeks ago from Spain. We wound up having a pretty intense game night and Maria turned out to be a natural at video games. First we played Mario Kart and then Nintendoland. I hadn't played Nintendoland in years and I'd forgotten how much fun it was. One of the games is kind of like hide and seek and Maria totally dominated all of us. Rosalynn's eldest daughter is 13 and Maria is 15 so it's nice for Jaden to have a girl slightly older to look up to. Maria is so mature for her age and extremely sweet and intelligent. I've recently been thinking about possibly going abroad next year to teach English but am apprehensive since I'm terrified to go live in a foreign country by myself but Maria is adjusting extremely well. I'm really excited to get to spend time with and get to know such an amazing young lady.

Pizza Time! |
Anyway, I had been invited to another birthday party that afternoon at Peter Piper Pizza but wasn't really in a party mood. Michelle texted me and asked me if I was gonna go and I told her I was having a sad girl day. She texted back and said "let pizza, cake, and children's laughter make you feel better" and I thought, she's right. I don't want to stay in bed all day feeling shitty about my love life. So I hoisted myself out of my pit of despair and went to the toy store to get the birthday girl, Mia, some toys. I hadn't seen Mia in a year, so I was a bit worried she wouldn't remember me (she only just turned 4) but as soon as I walked in the door she was like "COURTNEY'S HERE!" It warmed my icy cold heart out of my funk and I ended up having a lot of fun. I'd even say it was the funnest kid party I've been to in recent memory. I think we even had more fun playing games than she did!
